ARKADIA, Arkadian League. Circa 460-450 BC. AR Hemidrachm (2.82 g, 2h). Tegea mint. Zeus Lykaios seated right, seen from the back, holding scepter; eagle flying right from his hand / Head of Kallisto, wearing tainia, facing slightly right within incuse square. Williams, Confederate, period III, 201a (O137/R123) = A.B. Brett, “Facing Heads on Greek Coins” in AJN 1909, pl. 9, 10 = Ward 559 (this coin); BCD Peloponnesos (Tegea) -; BMC 43 (same dies). VF, toned, a few scratches in fields under tone. Fine style. Very rare.
