CELTIC, Britain. Iceni. Uninscribed. Circa 65-1 BC. AR Unit (1.24 g, 2h). Normal Face-Horse type. Struck circa 45-5 BC. Celticized head right; branch to left, two trefoils to right, [three pellets below] / Horse right; pellet below tail, wheel above, lozenge-shaped box and small rosette below. Allen, Coins 95-102; Van Arsdell 792-1 (Boudica); SCBC 434. Good VF, toned.

Although Van Arsdell changed the original attribution of this type to the revolt of Queen Boudica, his reattribution has been challenged. For the most cogent and comprehensive rebuttal of the attribution to Boudica, see C. Rudd list 58, pp. 5-11.
