LOKRIS, Lokris Opuntii. Circa 356-338 BC. AR Stater (11.89 g, 1h). Wreathed head of Persephone right, wearing five-pendant earring and necklace / Ajax, nude but for crested Corinthian helmet, advancing right, holding sword and shield decorated with palmette and griffin; spear below. Wartenberg 15-6 var. (ethnic not retrograde); SNG Copenhagen 42 var. (same); Gulbenkian 495-6 (same dies). Near EF, attractive light toning. Fine style in high relief. Rare variety with retrograde ethnic.
