EARLY SKYTHIANS. Uncertain. 1st century AD. AR Drachm (3.38 g). Diademed head left / Blank. Cf. Senior A8 (Skythians in Sogdiana); cf. Mitchiner,
Early 30-9 (Dahae); cf. MIG 655 (Dahae) . Good VF, toned.
This coin’s portrait has some stylistic affinities with those of Parthia and Persis, as well as those of the Dahae, a nomadic group who migrated throughout the region. Similar coins have been found in the region of Baluchestan, an area on Parthia’s eastern borders, in context with coins of the Paratarajas.
