Theophilus. 829-842. EL imitative Solidus (2.33 g, 7h). Contemporary imitation of Syracuse mint issue of 831-842. Crowned facing bust, wearing loros, holding cross potent / Crowned facing bust, wearing chlamys; globe to left without cross; star at beginning of legend. Cf. DOC 24 var. (no star); Anastasi 541 (this coin illustrated); cf. SB 1670. VF, minor deposits. Exceedingly rare without blundered legends.
