Michael VIII Palaeologus. 1261-1282. AV Hyperpyron (4.18 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Facing half-length figure of the Theotokos, orans, within city walls with six groups of towers / Archangel Michael supporting Michael VIII, who kneels before seated Christ, who holds scroll. DOC Class IIa; SB 2242. Good VF, some shallow scratches, traces of deposits. Better than usual strike on obverse.
