LUCANIA, Uncertain (The Lucani or Metapontion). Circa 280-270 BC. AR Drachm (17mm, 2.62 g, 12h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet / Barley ear, leaf to right; ΛK monogram to left; club above leaf; uncertain countermark over monogram. SNG ANS 544; HN Italy 2680. Fine, toned, some encrustation.

This interesting coin is believed to have been struck around the time of Pyrrhos of Epiros, either for the Lucani, based on the ΛK monogram, or for Metapontion, based on the reverse type.
