IONIA, Achaemenid Period. Uncertain satrap. Circa 350-333 BC. Æ 12mm (1.71 g, 6h). Persian king or hero in kneeling-running right, holding spear and bow / Two concentric squares, a line projecting out from one side of outer square. SNG Copenhagen -; SNG von Aulock 7810 (Memnon); SNG Tübingen 2754. VF, brown patina.

From at least the early 1900s, this type has been traditionally assigned to Memnon of Rhodes, but there is no evidence to substantiate such a specific attribution. The style of the obverse links it to the “map” issues of the Achaemenid satraps in Ionia, which have been dated to circa 350-333 BC.
