SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 BC. AR Hemidrachm (13mm, 1.83 g, 7h). Seleukeia II mint. Struck circa 296/5-281 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; anchor in left field, monogram below throne, two monograms in right field. SC -. VF, toned, porous, flan flaw on reverse.


The three monograms appear to match those of SC 137.1, a stater. See also SC 18a, a tetradrachm of the “elephant chariot” type, which carries the monograms to the upper right and below the throne of the current specimen.
