Helmeted head of Ares left wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a griffin / LOUKANOM right, Nike standing left, placing wreath on a trophy. Scheu, "The Coinage of the Lucanians," in NumChron 1964, pg. 68, 1; SNG ANS -; BMC Italy -; SNG Copenhagen -; SNG Morcom -; Laffaille -; Weber -; Garrucci pl. 123, 32. Good VF, dark olive green patina, surfaces a bit rough and dull. Very rare, only one specimen known to Scheu in 1964! ($500)
