PHILISTIA (PALESTINE), Uncertain mint. Mid 5th century-333 BC. AR Obol (0.68 g, 6h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Owl standing right, head facing; retrograde Aramaic ZZ to right; all within shallow incuse square. Gitler & Tal XI.6O. Good VF, toned, minor roughness. Very rare, only three examples noted by Gitler & Tal.

It is thought that the theta in the ethnic forms an ’Ayin that should be read in conjunction with the Aramaic letters, forming the Aramaic ‘ZZ.
