SICILY, The Sileraioi . Circa 357-336 BC. Æ Litra (7.95 gm). S-ILERAIW-N retrograde, forepart of a man-headed bull right / Naked Leukaspis charging right with spear and shield. SNG ANS -; Calciati III pg. 297, 2; BMC Sicily -; SNG Copenhagen -; SNG Morcom -; Laffaille -; Virzi -. VF, dark green, almost black, patina. Probably overstruck on a Syracusan litra, Athena/Hippocamp (Calciati II pg. 86, 41), but the undertype is not visible. ($300)
