SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23mm, 17.21 g, 10h).
In the style of Eukleidas. Struck circa 405 BC. Charioteer driving fast quadriga left; above. Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; in exergue, dolphin left / Head of Arethusa left; four dolphins around. Tudeer 96c (V34/R65 – this coin); SNG ANS 299-300 (same obv. die); BMC 196 (same dies) SNG Fitzwilliam 1253 (same dies). Good VF, old cabinet tone, minor die flaw on reverse.
