Maxentius. AD 307-312. Æ Follis (28mm, 6.86 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck AD 307. Laureate head right / Roma seated facing on throne, head left, holding globe and scepter; all within hexastyle temple. RIC VII 194b. Good VF, brown patina, reverse double-struck at 180° rotation, giving the appearance of a playing card. An interesting (and intentional?) celator’s error.
From the Elliott-Kent Collection. Ex Spink Numismatic Circular CIX.3 (June 2001), no. 339; Sternberg XV (11 April 1985), lot 690.
