Silver Fibula. Byzantine, 5th-6th centuries AD. Openwork bow with central pattern of undulating lines and a series of small globules, terminating at one end in a head of an animal, perhaps a fox. Terminal knobs composed of pentagons with central annulets, creating a soccer ball-like pattern. Length: 4.6 cm. Intact, but area of corrosion at hinge. Good workmanship.
