Claudius. AD 41-54. AR Fourrée Denarius (18mm, 2.79 g, 6h). Romano-British imitation. Imitating Rome mint issue of AD 50-51. TI CLAVD CAESAR AVG P M TR P X IMP VIII, laureate head right / S P Q R/P P/OB C S, in three lines within oak-wreath. Cf. RIC I 60; cf. RSC 94. Good VF, toned, light roughness.

From the hoard of approximately 170 plated Claudius denarii found in 1995 near Wortham in Suffolk. These imitations were likely made in Britain around AD 50-51.
