SICILY, Syracuse. Deinomenid Tyranny. 485-466 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 17.25 g, 7h). Struck circa 485-480 BC. Charioteer driving quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses / Diademed head of Arethusa right; four dolphins around. Boehringer 93 (V45/R62); SNG ANS 24 (same dies). The obverse of the Syracusan Tetradrachm shows a charioteer driving a quadriga right. On nearly all the dies though, only two horse heads are visible. Only two dies, this one (V45) and V44, show all four horse heads.
