SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 17.31 g, 11h). Struck circa 430 BC. Charioteer driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses; olive branch in exergue / Head of Arethusa right, hair in sakkos; surrounded by four dolphins. Boehringer series XXI, 652 (V330/R447); SNG ANS 215. EF, attractive even gray tone with slight iridescence around the devices, slightly weak strike on obverse, tiny knock on cheek. Lovely style.
