ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (32mm, 16.80 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Glau(kos) and Eche(krates)/Eche(demos), magistrates. Struck 138/7 BC. Head of Athena Parthenos right, wearing necklace, pendent earring, and triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with the protomes of four horses above the visor, a Pegasos in flight rightward above the raised earpiece, and a curvilinear ornament on the shell / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ӨE above ΓΛ/AY EXE (magistrates’ names) in three lines across field; to right, radiate head of Helios facing; M on amphora, HP to lower left; all within wreath. Thompson 299 var. (same obv. die; unlisted month/control letters combination). Near EF, lightly toned.
