CHINA, Provincial. Guǎngdōng (Kwangtung). AR 1 Mace 4 and 3/5 Candareens – 20 Cents. Imperial Dragon type. Heaton mint. Undated issue, struck 1890. KWANG – TUNG PROVINCE/(pierced cross) 1 MACE AND 4 3/5 CANDAREENS (pierced cross), “bǎo yuán guāng xù,” (Valuable yuán of Guāngxù) in Hànzì around similar legend in Manchu script / “zào shēng dōng guǎng kù píng yì qián sì fēn liù lí,” (Made in Guǎngdōng province/Treasury scales equal to 1 qián and 4 fēn and 6 out of 10) in Hànzì, flying imperial dragon facing, coiled leftward around fireball and surrounded by stylized clouds. L&M 125A; cf. Kann 18 (business strike); KM (Yeoman) 196. In NGC slab (incorrectly as Kann 196) graded SP 66, attractive deep mirror surfaces.
