INDIA, Colonial. British India. Madras Presidency. 1653-1835. AR Half pagoda (38mm, 21.23 g, 12h). Second issue. Struck 1808. HALF PAGODA and value in Persian on buckled garter,
gōpuram (temple porch or entrance) set on ground; nine stars to left, nine to right; top of
gōpuram below letters OD / Vishnu standing facing; floral and pellet design to left and right; all within pelleted border; value in Telugu and Tamil on ribbon around with pennant ends, star between pennant ends. Edge: grained left. Pridmore 169; KM 449b. Good VF, toned. Overstruck on a Potosí mint PP 8 Reales of Carlos IIII, struck 1795-1802 (KM 73).
