STUART. Charles I. 1625-1649. AR Crown (41mm, 28.94 g, 8h). Group I. Tower mint; im: lis 1b. Struck 1625. CAROLVS D’. G’. MA’. BR’. FR’. ET HI’. REX, Charles I riding left on caparisoned horse, holding reins with left hand and sword in raised right hand / CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO (triple pellets), garnished royal coat-of-arms; crowned plumes aboove. Cooper, Silver lis 1b, 2 (dies VI/VI) and Note 1 (this coin; only obv. illustrated); cf. Brooker 235 (for type; same rev. die); North 2191; SCBC 2754. VF, toned, struck with worn obverse die. The only recorded example of this Cooper obverse die.
