Victoria dei gratia britannar · reg : f : d · (in Blackletter [Gothic script]), crowned Gothic bust left; incuse WW at truncation of bust / tueatur unita deus anno mdcccxlvii (in Blackletter [Gothic script]), crowned cruciform coats-of-arms of England, Scotland, and Ireland around central Garter Star; rose, thistle and shamrock in quarters composed of arches ending in lis. Edge: decus (rosette) et (rosette) tutamen (crown) anno (rosette) regni (rosette) undecimo (rosette) (in Blackletter [Gothic script]). L&S type 58 var. (6h die axis); ESC 288 var. (same); SCBC 3883 var. (same). In NGC slab graded PF 64, darkly toned with attractive mirror surfaces. Extremely rare variety with the non-standard 12h die axis.

The standard die axis for 1847 proof crowns with the lettered edge is 6h, while the standard die axis for those with the plain edge is 12h. A possibly unique mint error.
