KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 17.18 g 5), Pella, c. 325-315. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, vertical thunderbolt. Price 232. A splendid piece, struck on a broad flan and very well preserved. Good extremely fine.
