Ekkarra, eine Stadt der Achaia Phthiotis: Ihre Lege nach den numismatischen Zeugnissen, U. Peter, ed. Stephanos Nomismatikos, Edith Schönert-Geiss zum 65.Geburtstag (Berlin 1998), pp. 417-439, 20 (V3/R8). Rogers 207. Traité IV, 475, pl. CCLXXXVIII, 12-13. A superb piece, beautifully struck in high relief and with a fine dark green patina. Extremely fine.
Almost nothing is known about Ekkarra, certainly not why it should have produced such a burst of locally intended coinage in the late 4th century. In any event, this is certainly one of the nicest examples known of the type.
