THESSALY, Thessalian League. Late 2nd - early 1st century BC. Stater (Silver, 6.33 g 1), Sosibios and Simy.... Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath; behind, ΣΩΣΙΒΙΟΥ. Rev. ΘΕΣΣΑ / ΛΩΝ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and extending shield in her left; in field to left and right, Σ-Ι / Μ-Υ; to right, above spear, fly to left. Klose Group II, cited on p. 344. A lovely well struck piece. Extremely fine.
