MYSIA, Kyzikos. Circa 600-550 BC. AR Obol (9mm, 0.82 g). Head of tunny right / Incuse square punch. Von Fritze II 2; SNG France -; cf. SNG von Aulock 7323-4. Near EF, toned. Extremely rare.
Ex Aufhäuser 8 (9 October 1991), lot 96.
This silver issue parallels the earliest series of Electrum from Kyzikos, which also featured full or partial tunnies as the obverse type. These silver pieces strongly suggest that the dating of this coinage is closer to middle of the 6th century.
