Pair of gold earrings. Roman, circa 3rd century AD. Each with openwork shield decorated with a rosette with central pearl. Grooved trapezoidal plate attached to shield, with hoop for three pendants set with gold-bezeled garnet and glass bead. Gold chain attached to loops. Overall length (including chains): 6.4cm. Wonderfully preserved.
