Silver ring. Roman, circa 3rd century AD. Ellipsoid hoop with band flaring at shoulders of bezel. Carnelian intaglio engraved with a scene of a palm between figures of Eros and Pan wrestling. Ring size: British F, US 3. Very minor deposits, otherwise a well preserved and interesting piece recalling the scene in the so-called Vestibule of Eros and Pan in the Villa Romana del Casale, where the two mythical figures are shown competing for the sum of 44,000 denarii.
