Silver ring insert. Roman, circa 300 AD. Intaglio montage: back to back heads of bearded human and lion, the beard of the human head doubling as a serpent, the top of the head turning into the forepart of of a horse with a rider holding a palm over his shoulder; animal head (goat?) above lions head; scorpion before human head, lizard before lion head, bird and star below. Diameter: 12mm. Well preserved. A highly curious design.
