Crowned facing bust, wearing consular robes, holding mappa and eagle scepter with cross / Cross potent on three steps; A-W flanking, dotted border; all within laurel wreath. DOC -; MIBE 61; SB 553. Near VF, porous. Extremely rare.


The issue was struck in commemoration of Maurice’s vicennalia and second consulship. Hahn (p.52) notes the news of the emperor’s death may note have reached Carthage until the Spring of 603.
