BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Artemidoros Aniketos. Circa 100-80 BC. Æ (22mm, 7.89 g, 12h). BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANIKHTOY APTEMIΔOPOY, Artemis standing facing, head slightly right, with bow slung over arm, drawing arrow from quiver / “Mahara[jasa apadihatasa Are]temidorasa” (
sic) in Kharosthi, zebu standing right, head facing; monogram in exergue. Bopearachchi 7F = MIG Type 404e; Bopearachchi & Rahman -; SNG ANS -. VF, dark green and red-brown patina with traces of earthen overtones, some light cleaning marks. Extremely rare control mark, the second specimen known and the first to appear at auction.
