THRACE, Perinthus. Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ Medallion (39mm, 36.76 g, 6h). Laureate and cuirassed bust right, wearing aegis; gorgoneion on breastplate / Nike, holding palm frond, standing left, crowning with wreath Severus Alexander, who stands facing, holding scepter. Cf. Schönert, Perinthos 784/740 (for obv./rev [same obv. die as illustration]); Varbanov 462 var. (bust type); otherwise unpublished. Good VF, green and brown patina, minor smoothing in fields. Apparently a unique obverse/reverse pairing.
