Pair of gold earrings. Roman, circa 2nd century AD. “Bell clapper” shaped bodies set with four teardrop shaped garnets and decorated with elaborate granulation pattern. Each with four large globules at bottom. Overall length: 2.1cm; weight: 1.19g and 1.23g. See Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design: Catalogue of the Classical Collection, Classical Jewelry, pp. 108-9 for a pair of similar manufacture. Heavy earthen encrustation and some damage to bottom, but overall good state of preservation.
