Pair of gold earrings. Romano-Byzantine, 4th-6th centuries AD. Each with loop meeting at granulated lozenges above four globules, supporting removable pin for securing. Five small rings each holding two loop-in-loop pendant chains terminating in globules.
Length: approx. 4.5cm; weight: 4.15 and 4.41g. Probably missing pearls. Fine workmanship. Wearable.
Of a type popular from at least the 3rd century, particularly in Egypt, where the majority of examples are found.
