Bronze fibula. Roman, 1st-3rd centuries AD. Design in the form of a
murmillo standing facing, wearing helmet with high crest and holding a
gladius and
scutum.
Height: 4.6cm; weight: 15.29g. Very minor damage to shield, hinge and pin intact but with normal corrosion. Traces of silvering. A well preserved and interesting brooch.
