262, Lot: 384. Estimate $150.
Sold for $90. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Galerius. AD 305-311. Æ Half Follis (22mm, 4.42 g, 6h). Treveri (Trier) mint,. Struck circa summer AD 307. Laureate and cuirassed bust right / Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia; S/A//PTR. RIC VI 738 (Maximianus). Good VF, dark brown patina.

RIC records this as an issue for Maximianus as Senior Augustus, without the Senior Augustus titles. There are GPR full folles in this issue struck for Galerius (with the same obverse legends as this coin), Maximinus, Constantine as Caesar, and Maximianus as Senior Augustus (with the correct titles). Why they attribute these to Maximianus is a mystery to this cataloger.
