ISLANDS off THRACE, Thasos. Circa 168/7-148 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 16.69 g 12). Head of the young Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath.
Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Herakles standing left, nude but for lion skin over his shoulder and left arm; resting right hand on club; to left, Μ. Le Rider 51. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 1040-1045 ff.. Nicely toned and struck on a broad flan. A very attractive coin. About extremely fine.
