THESSALY, Thessalian League. Circa 196-27 BC. Stater (Silver, 5.99 g 12), Philippos and Themistogenes, Mid first century BC. Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘΕΣΣΑ / ΛΩΝ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield in her left; above, [Φ]ΙΛΙΠΠΟ[Υ]; below, Θ]ΕΜΙΣΤΟΓΕ[ΝΥΣ]; to right, nearly off the flan, Artemis to right. SNG Copenhagen 296 var. On a tight flan but very sharp. Extremely fine.
