ARGOLIS, Argos. Circa 370-350 BC. Drachm (Silver, 5.55 g 9). Head of Hera to left, wearing a stephane and a simple pendant earring.
Rev. ΑΡΓΕΙΩΝ Diomedes, nude but for cloak over his shoulders, walking to right, holding dagger ins his right hand and Palladion in his left; to left at his feet, swan standing right with spread wings. BCD Peloponnesos 1059 (
same dies). BMC 46. SNG Fitzwilliam 3784 (
same reverse die). Extremely rare. A worn but still attractive coin, with a better obverse than the BCD piece. Partly flat struck on both sides,
otherwise, very fine.
