SICILY, Alaisan Mercenaries. Circa 344-336 BC. Æ 21mm (8.41 gm). Horned head of river-god right / Wheel of eight spokes. Calciati III pg. 337, 1 OS; SNG ANS 1306 (part 5). Overstruck on a Syracusan Æ Litra, Athena/Hippocamp (Calciati II pg. 86, 41), with the head of the hippocamp visible on the reverse. VF, dark green patina. Extremely rare, this apparently the fifth known example. ($300)
