THESSALY, Larissa. Mid to late 4th century BC. AR Stater (24mm, 12.21 g, 11h). Head of the nymph Larissa three-quarter facing l., wearing plain necklace and triple drop earring, her hair held by an ampyx; border of dots / ΛΑΡΙ above, Σ downwards to the r., [Α]ΙΩΝ below, bridled horse trotting r., tail upright and looped. See Lanz 97 (22 May 2000) 223 = Gorny & Mosch 108 (3 April 2001) 1188 (same dies). EF, nicely toned and very sharply struck on the reverse but with a small metal flaw at the top of the horse’s hind legs and some die rust in the l. eye and next to the mouth of the nymph.
