THESSALY, Metropolis. Early to mid 4th century BC. AR Obol (10mm, 0.86 g, 6h). Head of horned and bearded river god facing, border of dots / [Μ]ΗΤΡΟΠΟ l. up, Dionysos, bearded and in short chiton, seated l. on wine crater, holding thyrsos with his r. and resting his l. on his seat; behind him, vines. Jameson 1098 (same dies); see also Nomos 4, 1206. Near VF, attractive dark old collection toning, the high relief surfaces lighter; a pleasing coin.
