THESSALY, Pelinna. Last quarter of 5th century BC. AR Drachm (21mm, 6.07 g, 4h). Thessalian cavalryman on horse prancing l., wearing short tunic and petasos and holding a spear pointing backwards; in field above, AI, below, A, all in tiny letters; border of dots / [Π]EΛIИИAIEΩ[И] l. up, warrior, wearing petasos and chlamys, advancing l., his head turned back; he is armed with a sword in a scabbard held by a baldric, holds two spears and shield with his r. and another spear with his l. See Nomos 4, 1226 (same dies); see also Hess-Leu [11] 24 March 1959, 186 for the same obverse die. Near VF, gunmetal toning, a neat and pleasing coin.
