THESSALY, Pelinna. Last quarter of 5th century BC. AR Trihemiobol (13mm, 1.42 g, 7h). Thessalian cavalryman on horse prancing l., wearing petasos and chlamys and holding a spear pointing backwards; border of dots / ΠEΛI[И] from top l., down retrograde, [И]AEIΩИfrom bottom r., up retrograde, warrior in fighting attitude r., wearing short tunic and petasos-like Boiotian helmet, carrying shield with his l. and spear with his upraised r. See G. Hirsch 253 (27 September 2007) 2127 (same dies). Near VF, lightly toned, minor surface crystallization; a very rare variety.
