THESSALY, Pelinna. First quarter of the 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (14.5mm, 2.32 g, 5h). Helmeted horseman r., raising spear to strike at unseen adversary; border of dots / ΠΕΛΙΝN l. up, AIKON r. down, warrior, dressed in short tunic, carrying shield with his l. and spear with his r., advancing r. and raising spear to strike at unseen adversary; all in shallow incuse square with rounded edges and corners. This type combination not found in the references consulted but see CNG e-sale 183 (5 March 2008) 48 [same types but legend differently disposed]. Near VF, dark brown patina with a few small areas of dark red; obv. a little off centre.
