Triton XV, Lot: 524. Estimate $150.
Sold for $200. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

THESSALY, Pelinna. Late 4th to early 3rd centuries BC. Æ Dichalkon (18.5mm, 5.95 g, 11h). Head of Mantho veiled r., border of dots / ΠΕΛIN[NAI]ΩN above circular, helmeted Thessalian rider wearing chlamys, charging r. with couched lance on prancing horse; below monogram, above the monogram, pellet. BMC p. 37, 6, pl. VIII, 5 (same rev. die); Rogers 433. VF, green patina with minor surface roughness.

The pellet above the monogram on the reverse appears to be part of it and not a die flaw; one wonders what would its role be in the name that would result from the analysis of the monogram.
