THESSALY, Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Trihemiobol (15mm, 1.34 g, 6h). Thessalian cavalryman, wearing chlamys and petasos and holding two spears, riding horse walking l., below horse, altar; border of dots / Π-E-P-A from top r., to l., retrograde and circular, Athena in chiton and himation and with her hair rolled in a bun behind her head, seated l. on chair with curving legs and back, her feet resting on very low stool, holding crested helmet with lowered cheekpieces. SNG Cop. 194. Near VF, lightly toned with minor surface porosity.
This coin shares a reverse die with Nomos 4, 1240 which means that the obverses with and without the altar below the horse are contemporary.
