THESSALY, Pharkadon. 2nd half of the 5th century BC. AR Hemidrachm (16mm, 2.92 g, 6h). Thessalos to r., naked but for chlamys and his petasos in the air behind him hanging from a cord around his neck, holding a band with both hands around the forehead of a bull’s front half; border of dots / Φ-A to l. and r. above, P-K to l. and r. below retrograde, forepart of horse r. in incuse square with rounded edges and corners. Pozzi (Boutin) 2840; see also Nomos 4, 1269 var. [the P below on the rev. is upside down]. VF, lightly toned; some die rust on the obv. between the bull’s head and the circle of dots.
