THESSALY, Pharos. Early to mid 4th century BC. Æ Chalkous (17mm, 3.87 g, 7h). Young male head r., wearing a wide head band binding his long hair / ΦAPAIΩ-И circular from below l., letters upside down, forepart of horse r., below, trident l. Unpublished, unknown and
unique (?). Fine, green patina; edge surface scrape on the reverse between 7 and 9 o’clock and a smaller one on the obverse at 11 to 12 o’clock.
There is no doubt that the head on this coin is of the same individual as the head on the previous lot. The head cover here looks like a Phrygian cap, but without covering the central top part of the head.
